Washington Pass Overlook

Washington Pass Overlook

Update: I have been getting some feedback that the lookout is often closed... I called the Methow Valley Ranger District and they informed me that the only reason for further closures is snow on the road or fire hazards. Feel free to contact them if you have any questions.

It had been a few years since I had stopped by this viewpoint. I was very surprised to find that it had been given a facelift. The trail is paved the whole way to the lookout point and would be great for a wheelchair.

There is also a loop trail that has some stairs and uses some solid rock spots to climb above and then back down to the starting point. I would estimate the entire loop to be only a quarter of a mile long.

For those not wanting to take a hike along highway 20, but just looking for a place to stretch their legs, this is perfect. The parking lot is huge and has multiple bathrooms.  If you do want to go for a hike, then check out Blue Lake just west of the lookout!
