Easy Nature Walk on Baker Lake Road
Just inside the National Forest on Baker Lake Road and just after Baker Dam Road, is a parking lot on the right hand side of the road for Shadows of the Sentinels.
This is an ADA rated trail that is well kept up and consists mostly of built up boardwalk. There are also interpretive signs along the half mile loop. This old growth forest is the perfect quick stop to take yourself away from the hustle and bustle of the popular spots in this area.
My girls, along with my parents, really enjoyed this walk that was only fifteen minutes off of Highway 20. My mom is in a wheelchair and so this was a perfect spot for all of us to enjoy the virtues of the wilderness.
There is a huge Douglas Fir along this loop trail that is way bigger than any other of the large trees here. Not too unlike the huge cedar tree that sits at the end of Baker Lake Road, it really made us wonder how the forests all around Western Washington used to look.
If you find yourself visiting the Baker Lake area and want a perfect place to stretch your legs, then this is a great choice!
