Oct 5 Black Chief Mine

So many times I have passed by the Black Chief Mine and today we finally stopped! Ever since I was a kid, I could see this mine right off of the Mountain Loop Highway across from the Red Bridge Campground entrance.

The girls were kind of a little scared when I had pointed it out on previous trips. As we got into the car, I told the we were going to stop there and they were feeling brave.

Even as we approached, there was a lot of bravery talk... until it was time to go into the mine. This is when all of the questions came of lions, tigers and bear. They went to the opening and looked in. I was a bit surprised that they wouldn't even go in with me.

Overall they enjoyed this short stop on a rainy day. Off we went driving further up the highway!
