Mount Dickerman

GRANITE FALLS MOUNTAIN LOOP AREA

Miles: 8 roundtrip

Elevation: 4,000 feet gained

Starting out fairly easy it soon climbs seemingly endless switchbacks through dense forest, finally breaking into the open at a seasonal creek. With never a level spot, continue climbing past an enormous blueberry field and onto many overlooks. First you look down on Perry Creek Canyon and then over to see the Mountain Loop Highway below Big Four Mountain. The final push to the top is through meadows and the steps are large. When you crest the rocks at the summit, you see Glacier Peak and all of the surrounding mountains. Civilization is nowhere to be seen, only other hikers and the wilderness.

  • Get there: Pass Verlot about 16 miles, just beyond the Ice Caves Trail. A huge marked parking lot is on the left and is shared with the Perry Creek Trail.
