Take Your Kids out with a Fun Group!!

I had no idea what to expect when I signed us up for our first Hike It Baby event. My two daughters and I were the first to arrive at the Boardman Lake Trailhead off of the Mountain Loop Highway on a Saturday morning. One by one, carloads of fun, happy families jumped out ready to hit the trail. Everyone introduced themselves immediately, and conversation was very easy.

In all there were eight adults and eight kids from ages six to only months old. The older kids hiked, while most of the younger ones were in packs on the backs of their parents. This hike was only one mile to the lake and we hung out for a bit of lunch and exploring after we got there. Besides having fun, one tradition that Hike it Baby 'hike leads' try to do, is take a group photo.

Update: There is a brand new Whatcom Hike It Baby group. Follow the link below to find their Facebook Group.

Here are few basic rules to the planned events:

  • Have fun
  • Introduce yourself and kids
  • Allow any pictures to be put up on their Facebook page
  • Anyone who attends a hike, can then lead one in the future

There are other rules on the Hike it Baby website here: https://hikeitbaby.com/about-hike-it-baby/

The Seattle Hike It Baby Facebook Group has nearly 1,000 members, but it is a closed group. Look it up and ask to join Most profiles with pictures of families will be approved - They try their best to keep it safe!
