Blackpine Lake TRAIL

PAVED PATH 1 MILE Roundtrip

Methow Ranger District Twisp River

The only reason not to go see this beautiful trail is just how off the main roads it is. This trail and lake with the same name is up the Twisp River and then further into the mountains on some dirt roads.

The trail is paved the whole length! Leaving from the boat launch, you soon find that it only gains easily, maybe 20 feet total and has a few benches along the way. There are two docks that are accessed from path where hikers can watch families fishing the lake.

Birds are all around as the trail winds through the large trees along the lakeshore. At the West end of the lake, the trail comes to a viewpoint and a small loop brings views of looming peaks that are labeled in a drawing on a sign here.

Head back the way you came, looking back at Blackpine Lake you might find boaters or people fly fishing from the shore.

  • Get there: Drive west on Twisp River Road, leaving Highway 20 in the town of Twisp, for about 10 miles. Here turn left onto FS Road 43 shortly going over Buttermilk Bridge across Twisp River Stay left, following FS Road 43 for about 8 miles, to a well marked campground on the North end Blackpine Lake. Turn left at signs for the day use area that will lead to a small parking lot at the boat launch.
