Bedal Creek Trail

3 Miles Rountrip

1,100 Feet Gained

An underused hike that sees very little traffic. Un unmarked trailhead with an easy to follow trail leaves from the end of the road. Large trees and a few avalanche chutes bring you to the creek and the trail follows the creek to a waterfall. Eventually the trail disappears. The old route heads up a dry creek bed to find Bedal Basin, an old mining destination in a meadowy, boulder strewn spot.

The road to the trailhead is recommended for high clearance vehicles.

  • Get there: Drive the Mountain Loop Highway out of Darrington and past the paved portion. On the gravel portion of the highway, cross North Fork Sauk River at Bedal Campground. Take a left onto a very rough road 4906 to its end. There are no facilities.
