Twin Bridges Along the Pacific Northwest Trail

Twin Bridges Along the Pacific Northwest Trail

VIDEO: The Pacific Northwest Trail crosses the Swinomish Channel along Highway 20. I point out all the views from the top most part of the bridge.

Again I took the kids on part of my goal to section hike the Pacific Northwest Trail in the Puget Sound Region. I am trying to do the road sections by myself because of the safety issues, having a four year old walking the shoulder of a busy road.

The Twin Bridges on Highway 20 across the Swinomish Channel has a pedestrian and  bike path so this was a perfect opportunity to take them with me.

Kids love bridges! This bridge towers over the Swinomish Channel with cars speeding past on one side and boats cruising by on the other. The San Juan Islands, Mount Baker, Three Fingers Mountain and Mount Pilchuck can all be seen on a clear day.

Highlight of this hike: Reggie (4) needed to pee and we are used to hiking in the woods. When you gotta go, you gotta go! Reggie squatted right on the grass between Highway 20 and the Swinomish Casino. Memories like these are great.
