Happy Panther

Ross Lake Area

Miles: 12.5 miles roundtrip

Elevation: 550 feet gained

Named for Happy Creek and Panther Creek, this is an old pack trail that now connects the Ross Dam Trail with the East Bank Trail. In the first half of a mile you descend switchbacking and then turn right onto a gravel road for a quarter mile. The trail is on the right and heads east through the forest between the lake and the highway, before meeting the East Bank Trail at milepost 138 on Highway 20.

  • Get there: From I-5 take Highway 20 east past Marblemount and continue to Milepost 134. The trailhead is here and can be accessed year round.
