Fourth of July Pass

Diablo Lake Area

Miles: 11.5 miles roundtrip

Elevation: 2,400 feet gained

Climb the Thunder Creek Trail for 2 miles and find the trail on the left just after crossing the creek over a bridge. Then climb 2,000 feet in 2.5 miles where you reach Forth of July Camp. Views open even more in the final climb to the pass. If you continue down the other side of the pass, you will follow a not-so-scenic route to Highway 20 at the Panther Creek Trailhead 6.5 miles from the pass.

  • Get there: From I-5 take Highway 20 east past Marblemount and turn right into Colonial Creek Campground just past Milepost 130. The trailhead is about a half of a mile in near the amphitheater.
